Waxing

What is a waxologist and what exactly is waxing?

A waxologist has an esthetician or cosmetologist license through the Board of Cosmetology and is recognized as an expert in waxing.

Waxing is one of the most effective forms of hair removal — removing the entire hair from the follicle, or “root”.

Why should I wax?

Consistent waxing causes hair to grow back slower, sparser, and finer. Shaving cuts hair off at the thickest part of the hair shaft, not only increasing the chance of ingrowns, but also making the hair appear thicker when it grows back within 24 to 48 hours.

What are the benefits of waxing?

Less chance of ingrown hairs and irritation and longer-lasting results.

Can I get waxed if I am pregnant?

Of course. Be sure to let your waxologist know so they can make sure the products are safe. Most of our mama-to-be’s book out all of their waxing appointments up until about 7 days of their due date to stay on track.

What if I’m taking medications or have allergies?

On your first wax visit, you will be asked to fill out our intake form, which is where you will list all medications and conditions, including allergies.

Does waxing hurt?

There is some discomfort associated with hair removal, however, our method of hair removal has been perfected to give you a more painless wax than ever.

Can men + nonbinary wax? Is there a price difference?

Of Course! Our waxologist has been trained for Brazilian waxing for all genders and sexes. Our pricing menu is the same.

How long does hair need to be to get waxed?

For areas below your neck, your hair needs to be at least ¼” long, think the size of a grain of rice or your bottom eyelashes.

Can I have a guest in the room with me during a bikini, French, or Brazillian wax?

For intimate waxing services, we ask that we keep it just between you and your waxologist. Babies are allowed in with the carrier or stroller during your waxing session.

Should I shave or trim between visits?

Refrain from shaving or trimming your waxed areas between visits.

How old do I have to be to get waxed?

Minors must have a parent fill out the intake form and sign the Minor Release portion. That being said, we will NOT wax anyone who does not want to be waxed or feels uncomfortable doing so regardless of parental consent.

How long will my wax last?

Your wax will last about 2 weeks. When the hair does grow back, it will come in softer, thinner, and sparser.

What if I have a sunburn or rash?

We cannot wax over a sunburn, rash, scab, or any other skin injury as it may injure you even further. Give it at least a week after getting sunburned before coming in.

How long does a Brazilian take?

A speedy 15 minutes barring any difficulties.

Can I tan or go to the beach right after getting waxed?

If your waxed parts are covered, then yes. However, we do ask that you refrain from sun exposure and swimming. Waxing does slightly exfoliate your skin, making you more exposed to a sunburn. Be sure to wear and reapply sunscreen, especially after facial waxing.

What about spray tanning?

We recommend getting spray tanning 48 hours after getting waxed to prevent removing your spray tan and the tiny little dots in your open follicles.

I’ve had laser but still want the entire area waxed, because I have less hair do I get a discount?

We do not modify our pricing for less hair.

How often should I schedule my waxing appointments?

For best results, book your waxing appointments every 4 weeks. During the summertime, it’s totally okay to come in every 3 weeks for bikini and Brazilian waxing, but no sooner.  For underarms and lip waxing, we recommend every 2 to 3 weeks.

When can I work out or be intimate after waxing?

We ask that you refrain from any vigorous activities for 24 hours post-wax since sweating and bacteria can irritate waxed areas.

How do I manage ingrown hairs?

Your waxologist will work with you to help design a specialized exfoliating regimen for your ingrowns and hyperpigmentation.

What should I do to prepare for my waxing appointment?

We recommend skipping coffee on the day of your wax appointment as it can cause sensitivity. Wear loose-fitting clothes if you’re getting your back, chest, Brazilian/bikini, or legs waxed. We also recommend wearing a tank top if you are getting your underarms waxed. If it is your first time, come a few minutes early to fill out your waxing intake form. If you are very worried about sensitivity, you can take ibuprofen, Tylenol, or apply our take-home numbing cream an hour before your appointment.

What if I’m not sure how I want my eyebrows waxed?

We will walk you through your first brow wax with a consultation. After, we will work together to achieve your brow goals. We stick to natural shaping to help complement the face. We ask that you DO NOT tweeze your brows between brow waxing appointments.

When should I start my exfoliating regimen?

Wait 48 hours after waxing to start any exfoliating regimen.

What is the difference between liquid and physical exfoliation?

There are two kinds of exfoliation we focus on when preventing and treating ingrown: liquid and physical. Physical exfoliants are the type you will physically feel, think scrubs or exfoliating gloves. Liquid exfoliants are serums and ingredients that work inside the layers of your skin to keep your follicles clean and promote cell turnover and healing.

Can I take a bath or jump in the hot tub right after?

We ask that you refrain from soaking in hot water, saunas, etc. for 48 hours after your waxing appointment.

Will nose waxing hurt more than tweezing?

Nose waxing is virtually painless! You will feel a slight tug, and that is it!

I have an important occasion coming up that I would like to get waxed for, how should I schedule this?

We recommend getting started on a normal waxing routine in advance for best results and to ensure you don’t have any reactions. For weddings, we recommend starting waxing 6 months prior. If you plan on adding services before your event, we recommend getting them done 3 to 4 days prior.

I’m on my period, can I still get waxed?

Absolutely. You may be a little more sensitive than normal. We recommend taking a pain reliever 30 mins prior to help alleviate any extra sensitivity. We ask that you use a tampon, diva cup, or disk during your appointment. Our waxologist isn’t afraid of a tampon string and we are a judgement-free zone.

Can I apply deodorant or lotion after?

We recommend waiting 12 to 24 hours before applying deodorant to any area waxed as it can irritate your skin. Lotions that are aloe-based and fragrance-free are okay to use same day but we recommend waiting 24 hours before using anything scented.

What’s the difference between a bikini and French bikini?

A Standard Bikini Wax removes the hair inside the panty line and just outside to prevent any hair from sticking out. A French Bikini Wax leaves a thin strip of hair around the center and includes removing the hair from between your cheeks. A Brazilian Wax removes all the hair outside and inside of the panty line, between your cheeks.

What is an “extended” wax?

Our extended option for Bikini/Brazilian waxing includes a few extra minutes during your appointment to get any extra hair some of us may have.

What if I have an allergic reaction?

Allergic reactions are rare but can happen. First, let your waxologist know, and he/she will walk you through treatment. An allergic reaction the same day can look like hives or can appear a few days later as little whiteheads. It is crucial you do not pick at these whiteheads as doing so can cause hyperpigmentation. We keep a secondary wax on hand for those who experience any reactions to our standard wax.

What kind of wax do you use and why?

We use a warm wax with a smooth and creamy consistency formulated to work with all skin and hair types. It is infused with chamomile and azulene, which are both anti-inflammatory ingredients and help keep redness down to a minimum. Our technique is very different than traditional warm wax providing a quick and relatively painless waxing experience.

Lash Extensions

What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are individual strands of synthetic fibers that vary in length and weight depending on the style you want. The extensions are individually applied to each healthy natural eyelash. With proper application, extensions should feel weightless and natural.
How do I need to prepare for my appointment?
Prior to your appointment, please try to remove all eye makeup to minimize cleaning time and allow more time to apply the extensions.
Will extensions damage my natural lashes?
Extensions do not damage the natural lashes when they are applied properly. The extensions are placed according to your natural lash health. If a natural lash is short and thin, an extension will not be placed on it so that that eyelash can grow out and be healthily lashed for your next fill. Extensions will only be placed on strong, healthy natural lashes.
How long do extensions last?
Eyelash extensions last about 4 weeks without touching up. Touch-ups or fills should be done every 2 to 3 weeks, because the extensions grow out with your natural eyelashes. When the extensions grow out past about 2 to 3mm, they need to be removed and replaced with new extensions. Removals are done at the beginning of your appointment prior to applying extensions. A good sign of when you need a fill is when you have about 40 to 50% of your lashes remaining.
How long does it take to apply extensions?
Depending on how many natural lashes you have, a full set takes 1.5-2.5 hours. A fill can take from one hour to 1.5 hours.
Can I apply mascara to my extensions?
No! Never apply mascara to extensions. Feel free to wear eyeliner or eyeshadow, but the extensions are there to rid the need of mascara. Make sure to always remove makeup residue because build-up of makeup and oils can affect your retention.
Can I get my extensions wet?
Yes! After the first 24 hours of keeping them dry after your appointment, you can swim, shower, exercise; whatever you need to do. Do not be afraid of getting your extensions wet. Moisture allows the glue to remain flexible. Please be sure to wash your lashes with the recommended lash cleanser at least once a day.
How do I take care of my new extensions?
  • Do not get wet for 24 hours
  • Use oil-free products around the eye
  • Do not use mascara
  • Do not use an eyelash curler on your extensions
  • Avoid steam
  • Brush twice daily
  • Wash lashes once a day
  • Be aware that lashes are heat-sensitive, so whether you smoke or you’re just barbecuing with your friends, protect
    those lashes, girl!

Lash Lift

What is a lash lift?

A lash lift is a perm for your eyelashes that permanently curls them to give you a long flirty look without the need for extensions. The natural lashes are glued onto a rod that is placed on the lash line, and the perm solution is applied. After a few minutes, a setting lotion is applied, and the process is complete. A tint can also be applied if you have lighter natural lashes.

How do I need to prepare for my appointment?

To prepare, please arrive completely free of eye makeup. Also keep in mind that you will not be applying mascara or getting your lashes wet for 24 hours after the appointment.

How long does a lash lift last?

A lash lift should last about 6-8 weeks. Another lift should not be completed until the previous lift is fully grown out.

Will this damage my lashes?

No! That is why it is suggested getting the lift done after your previous one has grown out, because we do not want to cause any damage to the natural lashes.

Does it hurt?

No, when the rods are applied to the eyelids and the lashes are glued up onto the rods, you may feel a slight tug or pull on your lashes but there should be not discomfort.

Can I use a lash serum?

Yes! We suggest using serums to allow for more growth for your next lift.

Who is this procedure not good for?

Someone with chronic dry eyes, conjunctivitis, damaged lashes, active eye infections, trichotillomania (habitual pulling out of lashes), recent chemo treatments (please consult your physician).
